Afkomstig uit de harmonieuze heuvels van Schotland en de culturele metropolis Melbourne in Australië komt het trio Good Guy Hank. Op het Utrechtse Ramblin Roots festival sloegen ze in als een bom! Binnen een uur tijd waren alle meegebrachte cd’s en T-shirts uitverkocht. Dat smaakte naar meer; zogezegd zo gedaan: ze regelden een eigen tour in Nederland, dus straks klinken hun Americana-klanken ook bij ons door de zaal van Walhalla.
Mocht je je afvragen wie die goeie gozer Hank is: dat is natuurlijk de legendarische en veel te jong gestorven countryzanger Hank Williams. Hij vormde zowel de inspiratie voor de bandnaam als de sound van het trio. Maar de echte kenner kan ook invloeden van Bill Monroe, Stanley Brothers, Carter Family, Gram Parsons, Gillian Welch en David Rawlings bespeuren.
Het trio wordt gevormd door Theo Barnard (zang en gitaar, afkomstig van de Schotse bluegrassband Wire & Wool), Pepita Emmerichs (zang, fiddler en mandoline, afkomstig van de Australische band Oh Pep) en Donny McElligott (gitaar en banjo, afkomstig uit de Schotse Americana-band The New Madrids). Samen brengen ze heerlijke melancholische catchy songs en opzwepende muziek waar je niet stil bij kan blijven zitten.
